Walking
The cottage is situated right on the Dales Way and there are walks right from the front door. Situated right next to the Howgill Fells, there’s hill walking aplenty. If you prefer, there are some beautiful river walks along the Rawthey River (just down the road) and the Dee.
-
Fishing
The beautiful Rawthey River is just at the bottom of the road and contains native brown trout, together with sea trout and salmon. To fish the Rawthey you can buy a day/weekly ticket from Sedbergh Anglers .
-
Golfing
With the Howgills as the backdrop, Sedbergh’s 18 hole golf course is one of the most scenic and tranquil golf clubs in the country. There are several tree-lined holes and fairways crossing or running alongside the River Dee and the River Rawthey, as a result the course emphasis is placed on accuracy, rather than distance.

Dark Skies Stargazing
As we are part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, we have very little light pollution. You can see stars, planets, the Milky Way and meteors – and sometimes even the aurora borealis, right from the cottage. We’ve even got some blankets and binoculars for you. Here are some useful resources to help guide you.
